The manta ray symbolizes protection, speed, balance, elegance, and wisdom. Although it appears ferocious on the surface, it is actually a very docile creature; when swimming through the water, its graceful, light movements resemble the flowing hem of a skirt. Through the use of totemic imagery, the designer conveys a sense of strength, protection, and accomplishment.
